Deployment Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ)

Adoption

How do we get contractors to use EADOC on our projects?

The majority of contractors do not have software tools for exchanging project information efficiently with construction managers or facility owners. Typically their software tools are focused on cost controls for a project. Contractors are also looking to reduce costs and complete projects faster. EADOC eliminates the need for contractors to submit multiple copies of submittals and allows owners and their team to review and respond to project documents much quicker. This saves the contractor time and money on the project. EADOC also allows the contractors to add and remove their own users including managing their sub contractors. Most competitors applications require the contractor to purchase additional user licenses for subcontractors or requires the contractor to maintain 2 sets of records. Additionally EADOC is easy to learn and requires no software for the contractor to install. We have many contractors that are using EADOC voluntarily on their projects due to the cost and time savings.

How do we get architects and designers to use EADOC on our projects?

Architects and designers traditionally have had trouble managing their construction service responsibilities due to a lack of tools available for them to track project information. Architect are some of EADOC's biggest proponents because it allows them to monitor review times across their organization and of their consultants. EADOC also eliminates the need for Architects to assign administrative resources to projects since EADOC logs and notifies everyone about documents needing review.

How do we get our Construction Managers to use EADOC?

There are two types of Construction Managers that an owner can use. The first are the type with highly qualified engineers and project managers that are looking to provide the client with valuable project delivery services. These Construction Managers are looking for ways to reduce staff time on projects and are very proactive in using construction management tools like EADOC that eliminate the need for project administrative staff. These types of CM's will typically recommend the usage EADOC to a client. The second type of Construction Manager provides project administrative staff that are their simply to move paperwork and provide little value to the client. These CM firms do not like to use EADOC because it reduces their billable hours by eliminating the paper shuffle. Owners that typically hire these types of CM's can replace them with the EADOC application resulting in tremendous costs savings.

Implementation

When is the best time to get started using EADOC?

EADOC can be implemented anytime between project concept until NTP is issued to your contractor. Optimally we like to implement EADOC during the design phase as this a slower paced phase of the project allowing your team to learn the new tool and take advantage of all the benefits. We strongly discourage clients from implementing EADOC once construction has started on a project. Given the fast paced nature of construction project it is very difficult to implement a new tool during this phase of a project.

Can we migrate from our existing application to EADOC during construction?

On very large projects where your current solution is not working this can be done. It will require a considerable time commitment for the project team to migrate from their existing solution to EADOC. EADOC can migrate date from existing construction management applications like Prolog, Primavera Expedition, and Microsoft Project
